Director's Dialogue November 2009

On behalf of the entire IESARC Board of Directors, Frank Kams, Christine Stuehrmann, Dave Northrop, Mike Ward and myself, we would like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. We hope that all of you have the opportunity to spend a great day with your loved ones, your family and friends.

There are a few things coming up this month that I want to let you in on….if you have not already received notification.

November 3: All Units will be receiving the new 2010 Roster Form.  Please, right after your elections this month or next, return this completed form to Dan Whitten and me.  We are asking also, that you attach an attachment with the email addresses of your entire membership.  It would be deeply appreciated.

November 3: A presentation will be given to the County Board of Supervisors in an attempt to raise the remaining funds that are still needed for the Civilian Volunteer Memorial.  It is our plan now to have a formal dedication of this memorial sometime in January.  I will keep you posted on the date, time and the agenda for this event.  So far San Gorgonio SAR and the Sheriffs Mud Run committee have donated $2500 each for this project.  All of us would like to thank them for their generous contributions.

November 15: The Sheriff’s Jamboree Ride will be held at the Los Flores Ranch.  This event is open to all of our volunteers, department personnel and quests.  This is a great ride, followed by an outstanding BBQ, entertainment, raffle and auction.  Its always fun and I hope that many of you will get the opportunity to attend.

November 18: SAR Council Meeting, 7 p.m., Headquarters.  Hopefully, we will be able to announce that we have received the final approval for the new Individual SAR Skills Certification.  As you all know the vote was taken and approved at the last Council meeting to implement this new certification requirement.  We are now awaiting the official word from Volunteer Forces about its final acceptance.

November 18: Hap Hatch our MSAR Committee Chairman has announced that there will be a committee meeting held at 6 p.m., one hour prior to the meeting of the SAR Council.  Make sure that your MSAR Reps attend.  Remember, all HARMS Evaluators Resumes for 2010 are due to Volunteer Forces by January 31, 2010.

November 21 and 22: The BMC classroom portion of this training is going to be held at Headquarters.  Dan Whitten has sent all of the information out to the units, please contact him if you plan on attending. Remember to be able to attend the field portion of the BMC on January 23 and 24 that you will need your PVS check-off completed.  Class reservations forms are available on our www.sbsar.org web site.

December 8: There will be a meeting of the IESARC Board of Directors on this date to determine the goals and objectives for the year 2010.  This Planning Session will be open to all members of our SAR Units who would like to attend.  It will be our aim to determine how the SAR Council can best serve our SAR Units in the county during the up coming year.

December 12:  GIFT OF LOVE - Mike Ward is once again looking and asking for SAR units to attend this event.  If you are interested in setting up any displays or lending a hand for this event for underprivileged kids and moms please get a hold of Mike ASAP.  Contact him at: rockwinds@aol.com

January 9: The 2nd Annual Directors Breakfast will be held at headquarters.  This is a breakfast for all of our SAR Unit Commanders and it will start at 9 a.m.  All Unit Commanders are required to attend.  The agenda for this breakfast will be sent out to all Commanders by mid December.  There of course will be the breakfast and some remarks from our ranking Department personnel. Immediately following these remarks, there will be a breakout session held to conduct an overview of the informational material that all of the Commanders will be receiving…

And last but not least, there will be an update on the status of our PR Trailer at the SAR Council Meeting on the 18th of November.

Again, from all of us on the IESARAC Board of Directors we wish you very pleasant and happy holiday. Please during this time….

Be Safe
