East Valley Mounted Posse hosted the 2009 County Wide Mounted Search & Rescue Training on Saturday April 18th at Wildwood State Park in Yucaipa. The day began with all of the Mounted Search & Rescue Units meeting at the CP for a short Briefing Training courtesy of Mike Ward. The members were then broken up into three composite teams and assigned to one of the three different search scenarios in the park.
The various scenarios required teams to use their navigation, search, interviewing, radio and first aid skills to accomplish the missions and rescue the victims. Sheriff Hoops, Deputy Chief Fonzi and Captain Gray all stopped by to express their support and encouragement for all of the work the Mounted Search & Rescue members put in to benifit the Sheriff's Department and the residents of the county. Based upon everything I heard those who participated really enjoyed the training and liked the scenario based format.
Thank You to East Valley Mounted Posse and MSAR Committe Chair Hap Hatch for organizing an outstanding training!
Mark your calendars for the 2010 County Wide Mounted Search & Rescue Training - Saturday April 17th, 2010. Keep wathcing SBSAR.ORG for details!
